Alda Mary Jozwiak 98, of Fairpoint, OH died June 27, 2015 at her home.
She was born March 1, 1917 at Faipoint, OH a daughter of the late Florigan and Magdelina Bednarska Gazda.
Alda worked as a stogie wrapper for Marsh Wheeling Company until her marriage to Michael then became , as her granddaughter Anne called her, the “beauty queen” housewife. She was an excellent seamstress and baker.
She was a life-long member of St. Joseph’s church Fairpoint and first president of the Catholic Women’s Club. She is now a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church St. Clairsville.
In addition to her parents Alda was preceded in death by her husband Michael in 1985 and 12 brothers and sisters.
Surviving her two daughters Charlotte (C. Gary) Hill of St.Clairsville and Michalene “Micki” (David) Jozwiak Lewis of Vienna, WV, two grandchildren Michael (Rachael) Lewis and their daughter Karson Olivia “Koko” and Anne Carolyn Lewis and her brother John Gazda of Hesperia, MI and her “guardian angel” Leigh Pempek.
Friends will be received from 9:30 am until Alda’s Funeral Mass at 10:30 am Wednesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church St.Clairsville with Fr. Thomas Chillog the celebrant. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery Lafferty.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St.Clairsville Library Foundation or St. Mary’s Church.
