Dorothy J. Ebbert, 83, of St. Clairsville, OH died Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Liza’s Place of Valley Hospice, Wheeling, WV. surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 16, 1933 in Wheeling, a daughter of the late George and Mary Zalewski Hummel.
Dorothy was a retired employee of Ohio Valley Medical Center and a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Francis Society and the Belmont County Farm Bureau.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jerome A. Ebbert in 2015.
Surviving are her children, Jerry (Lova) Ebbert of St. Clairsville, Mary Louise (Jaye) Sauer of Naperville, IL, Dorothy (John) Bowman of St. Clairsville, George (Lynn) Ebbert of Fairmont, WV and Joanne (Mark) Campbell of Pickerington, OH; a sister, Rosemarie Miller of Farmington Hills, MI; 10 grandchildren, Matthew (Sarah), Jonathan and Aaron Ebbert, Amanda and Elizabeth Sauer, David (Amanda) and Christine Bowman, Michael (Brooke) Ebbert, Riley and Nathan Campbell; one great-granddaughter, Olivia Bowman.
Friends will be received on Thursday from 2-8 pm at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 204 West Main Street St. Clairsville where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:30 pm.
Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Friday at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Chillog as celebrant. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery, St. Clairsville.

I met Dorothy a few times ages ago in the 1970s/80s, probably at the farm. My dad William Zalewski, originally from Wheeling, was somehow related Dorothy’s mother Mary, making my dad and Dorothy cousins I guess. Anyway, sorry for the very late condolence.

Your mother was a wonderful lady. I enjoyed being on jury duty with her and got to know her better.
She always had a smile on her face when we would go by. So sorry to hear of her passing. Sending prayers for all of the family.
