Jerry N. Carpenter, 79 of Pipe Creek died Friday, August 12, 2016 in the Wheeling Hospital in Wheeling, West Virginia.

He was born March 16, 1937 in Shadyside, Ohio a son of the late Norviel and Dorothy Gates Carpenter.

Jerry was a retired employee of the Ormet Corporation, a member of the VFW Post 5565, American Legion Post 228 both of Powhatan Point, Ohio, the Ormet Retirees and a veteran of the US Coast Guard.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Ruth O. Ramsay Carpenter on August 26, 2003.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Lou Jackson Carpenter, three children, Jackie Lynn  (Norman) Cooper of Pipe Creek, David Wayne Carpenter of Tupelo, Mississippi and Roger Carpenter of Morgantown, West Virginia and one brother, Danny (Linda) Carpenter of Key, Ohio. Also his granddaughter Colby (Matt) Janowiecki of Toledo, Ohio and a great grandson, Jace Janowiecki.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Tuesday at 11 am with Pastor Larry Jenkins officiating. Interment in the Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.

Military services will be conducted at the funeral home on Tuesday at 10:45 am by the Belmont County Council of the American Legion.
