Maurice E. "Moe" Mattone

Maurice E. “Moe” Mattone, 83, of Powhatan Point, Ohio died Saturday, June 17, 2017 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born July 21, 1933 in Powhatan Point a son of the late Morris and Mary (Rydosz) Mattone.

Maurice was a retired employee of Ormet Corp. and a member of St. John Vianney Catholic Church. He enjoyed woodworking, leatherworking and making homemade wine.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Michael and Eugene Mattone; a sister, Mary Elizabeth Timmons.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Lou Ann Brown Mattone of Powhatan Point; seven children, Christina (Richard) Smathers of Powhatan Point, Jean (Michael) Voleck of St. Clairsville, OH., Rene Mattone of Steamboat Springs, CO., Michael “Buck” (Denise) Mattone of Powhatan Point, Milan (Bonnie) Mattone of Powhatan Point, John Mattone of Fredericktown, OH., Mary Mattone of Proctor, WV; a brother, Robert (Beverly) Mattone of Plano, TX; a sister, Joan Conrad of Phoenix, AZ; 13 grandchildren, Richard Smathers, Andrea Ryan, Luke Smathers, Christopher Smathers, Evan Voleck, Marisa Middleton, Mila Mattone, Michael Mattone, Andrew Mattone, John Tyler Mattone, Savannah Coffman, Seth Robinson and Adam Robinson; 14 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends will be received on Tuesday from 2-8 pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 186 Main Street Powhatan Point, Ohio 43942 with a Vigil Service at 7:30 pm.

Funeral Liturgy with Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church with Fr. Samuel R. Saprano as celebrant.

Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery.
