Pauline "Nan" Matoszkia

September 30, 1920 - May 27, 2017

Pauline (Manuilow) Matoszkia “Nan”, at the age of 96, very peacefully and quietly left this earth at the Shadyside Care Center on Saturday, May 27, 2017, to reunite with her husband, Bill, who has been waiting for her since 1979.

Prior to March of this year, she had been living with her youngest son, Jim, and his wife, Kathy, in Grove City, Ohio, who had been caring for her during her years of need.

Pauline was the daughter of the late Andy and Harpina (Stephanovich) Manuilow who immigrated to America from Kiev, Russia. From Ellis Island, they made their way to McKeesrock, PA, to Moundsville, WV; and finally to Dilles Bottom, OH, where they lived on a riverboat on the Ohio River for many years.

Pauline lived her entire life in Dilles Bottom and may have been the oldest survivor.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Pauline was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Edward V. Miller; her sister Mary; and her brothers Pete, Andy and Alexander.

Surviving are her four children: Joseph W. (Sherril) Matoszkia of Shadyside, OH; Patricia J. Miller of Columbus, OH; Brenda J. (Alan) Duvall of Wheeling, WV; and James V. (Kathy) Matoszkia of Grove City, OH; five grand-children; 12 great-grand children; her brother John Manuilow of Brooklyn, CT; her sister-in-law, Garda Manuilow of Ft. Wayne, IN and many nieces and nephews.

During her lifetime, Pauline enjoyed many things. She was a coal miner’s wife; she gardened, canned and was an excellent cook. She worked at the Dilles Bottom Restaurant and the Shadyside Dairy Queen.

For many years she belonged to a bunco club and later she enjoyed playing bingo. But her favorite past-time was being outdoors. She loved cutting her own grass and continued to cut until she reached the age of 90.

Another favorite of hers was sitting on her porch swings. She lived a long and happy life and she will be missed and remain in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 3pm until 8 pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Ave. Shadyside, Ohio, 43947 with further visitation on Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 9:30 am until time of service at 10:30 am.
