Richard Lee Lyons

Heaven has gained our beloved and treasured angel, Richard Lee Lyons this 20th day of February, 2018 at the age of 76. The first child of Sherman Winchester Lyons and Irene Winifred (Carlisle) Lyons, was born in 1942. “Dicky’s”, was a life that was not just well lived, but a life that was a blessing to witness and to share. His family will forever celebrate and reflect on his life with pride and love.

A retired Senior Master Sergeant of the United States Air Force, he dedicated his life to his country and his family. He traveled and lived abroad serving his country with dedication and an unwavering work ethic that punctuated his highly decorated and stellar military career. He served for 27 years before retiring. After retiring from his military service, he continued to work at the Veterans Affairs Office in Marion, IN. Dicky, had a passion for history and spent hours researching his family tree and ancestry. His slow, deep baritone voice reverberated with a thought-filled cadence when speaking that calmed and nurtured as he spoke. Old school family values were his core and a love with no boundaries endeared him to young and old, family and stranger alike. Golf was a favorite hobby in recent years. He spent many morning hours perfecting his game with friends and family every opportunity he had. He loved deeply and completely. Family meant everything to him and he was their backbone.

Dicky was preceded in home-going by his mother, Irene Winifred Carlisle Lyons; his father, Sherman Winchester Lyons; his first wife, Chasun Kim Lyons; his youngest brother, Ronald Terry Lyons.

He leaves to carry on his legacy and memory, a full family tree filled with many, many branches: his loving and dedicated wife, Carolyn Ligins-Lyons; his beloved daughters, Kimberly Lyons and Christine Phelps; devoted and loving grandchildren, Kyla Miller, Jonell Phelps and John Phelps; and one of the greatest joys of his life, great-grandchildren, Raven Isley and Kingsley Miller. Also left to mourn are a brother, Robert (Adrie) Lyons; a sister, Diane (William) Willis and sister/niece as he called her, Gina (Fred) Zebbs; a special nephew, Javon Lyons; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews as well as great great nieces and great great nephews. His was a life filled with family and pure, unconditional love.

Friends will be received from 11 am until the time of Dicky funeral service at 1 pm on Sunday at Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home & Crematory 204 West Main Street St. Clairsville with Rev.
