Arthur “Archie” Thomas, 88, of Bellaire, Ohio died November 2, 2017, at the Shadyside Care Center.
Archie was born July 21, 1929, in Bellaire Ohio a son of the late Benjamin Thomas and Sara Givens Wallace.
He was a 15 year veteran of the Bellaire Police Department and retired from Wheeling Pittsburgh Steels Martins Ferry Plant, a member of the Community Church of Christ, Masonic Lodge # 438 F & AM, American Legion Post #52, all of Bellaire, OH, 32nd degree Scottish Rite, Valley of Steubenville and the Osiris Shrine Temple, Wheeling, WV.
Archie enlisted in the Army during WWII at the age of 15 and was promoted to Corporal while serving in Okinawa, Japan at the age of 16.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, was a daughter, Cynthia Lee Thomas, his step-father, John Wallace, two brothers, Lee Thomas and John P. Wallace.
Surviving is his wife of 37 years, Peggy Dowler Thomas, two daughters, Patty Ann Warner of Bellaire, OH and Gloria (Thomas) Galaviz of Phoenix, AZ, two step-sons, Robert (Lauralee) Meyers of Port Orange, Fl and Craig (Kristine) Meyers of Ft. Pierce, FL., a step-daughter, JoLynn (Chris) Wiley of Milton, FL. two brothers, Robert Wallace of Bellaire and Paul Wallace of Commerce City, Colorado, two sisters, Sandy Mellott (Keith Liberatore) of and Eloise Amos all of Bellaire, OH, 9 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received Sunday 6pm-8pm and on Monday from 2-4pm & 6-8 pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 11 am Tuesday with Jeff Cross officiating.
Burial follows in Davis Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.

My prayers and thoughts go out to Pat Thomas-Warner and her extended family. May God grant you peace and strength to over come your loss, knowing that Archie is with Cindy and can rest in peace. He was a good man, and I can say I knew him.
