Charles F. "Shorty" Morgan

Charles F. “Shorty” Morgan, 90, of Shadyside, Ohio died at the home he built on Sunday, August 23, 2020.

He was born July 12, 1930 in Glouster, Ohio, a son of Thomas H. and Mary E. Thomas Morgan Sr.

He was a retired Skills Training Coordinator from First Energy Corp, RE Burger Plant, Shadyside, Ohio. He was a 1949 graduate of Shadyside High School. He was active in Government having served on Shadyside Village Council, and was a long time Mayor of the City of Shadyside. Shorty had many visions for Shadyside and actively sought and obtained numerous improvements for the city he loved. He was also active in many organizations and boards.

He was a giant of a man, having won Boxing’s Golden Gloves in 1948.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, commitment to family, wisdom and unfailing character.

He was steadfast in his faith and was a lifelong member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Shadyside, Ohio.

Preceding him in death in addition to his parents, was a daughter Lee Ann Morgan, eight brothers and sisters, Dorothy Moore, Edna Budzik, Thomas H. Morgan, Jr., William H. Morgan, Edith Burkhart, infant Jack Morgan, Robert E. Morgan and infant Donald Lee Morgan.

Surviving is his wife of 66 years D. Jean Morgan, son, Jay (Sandee Lucki) Morgan of Shadyside,Ohio, two daughters, Lois “Loie” (Brian) Pierce of Pickerington, Ohio, Tracey (Jay) Conforti of Millersport, Ohio, special niece, Malei (Guy) Stewart of Logan, Ohio, 6 grandchildren; Lucas J. (Holly) Morgan, Ethan (Amanda Rogowski) Morgan, Olivia (Aaron) Silverio, all of Shadyside, Ohio, Drew Pierce of Pickerington, Ohio, Jillian Conforti of Columbus, Ohio and Ava Conforti of Millersport, Ohio, 3 great grandchildren; Mia, Kinsley and Colton, special adopted grandson John Adam Hamilton, many nieces and nephews.

Family and Friends will be received Wednesday 2-4 & 6-8 PM at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory 3900 Central Avenue Shadyside, Ohio. Funeral liturgy with Mass Thursday 11 am at St. Mary Catholic Church, Shadyside, Ohio with Fr. Daniel Heusel officiating.

Social Distancing and Masks Required

Interment at the convenience of the family in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio.
