Today Donna Martin is dancing in Heaven with her son, Bill. She passed away at her home on September 21, 2016. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Jack, daughter Marlene (Phil) Jablonka, son Bruce (Tammy), daughter-in-law Diane, grandchildren Jared (Jackie and Lola), Jeff, and Evan Jablonka, Stacy Martin and great-grandson William Martin, and guard dog, Buddy. Donna joins her son, Bill, who went to Heaven on May 19, 2013.
She was born to Roy and Mabel Cunningham in Athens County on March 12, 1933. Donna loved to learn. She and Jack traveled the world after retirement. She earned her college degree as an adult, learned to play the guitar, took many art classes, sculpting, and her favorite-line dancing. She loved music and dancing. Jack and Donna spent the last 25 years winters in Florida and Donna leaves many close friends both in Florida and Ohio. Donna was a member of the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church of Shadyside, Ohio.
The family would like to thank Donna’s caregivers Fran and Shannon Bowen, Teresa Saffell, Adriene McCardle, Billie Jo Dailey and Alazaya Rouse.
A memorial service will be held at the Lincoln Avenue United Methodist Church in Shadyside next Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 4 pm with Rev. Randy Weaver officiating. The service will end with one final line dance in Donna’s honor.
Memorial contributions may be made to the William R. Martin Scholarship Fund P.O. Box 176 Shadyside, Ohio 43947.
