Dorothy Lee Koonce, 85, of Shadyside, OH, passed away Sunday, February 6, 2022 at home. Dorothy was born December 12, 1936 in Bellaire, OH.
She was a daughter of the late Leland and Matilda (Lippencott) Bates.
She was a homemaker and a Methodist by faith.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, was her husband Donald J. Koonce, brother Earl Ramsey, and sisters Karen Johnson, Josie Ruzich, Betty Ramsey, and Mary Ann VanDyne.
Surviving are children; Michael (Ruth) Koonce of Green Castle, PA, Terry (April) Koonce of Shadyside, OH, Kelli (John) Hartung of Springfield, OH, Melody (Wallace) Malolepszy of Shadyside, OH, Cathy Palmer of Shadyside, OH, and Donald (Jana) Koonce, Jr. of Lebanon, OH, 8 grandchildren; Terry, Christopher, Michael Koonce, Kelsey Kelley, Jennifer Predovich, Melissa Jackson, Joshua Palmer and Ashley Kuhn; 11 great grandchildren; Jayden, Hayden, Grayson, Brayden, Ethan, Scarlett, Emily, Olivia, Owen, Logan and Selah, brother; Roland Bates of Wheeling, WV, sister; Donna Robson of Columbus, OH, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was a most beloved Mother, Grandmother, and Great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed.
Family and Friends will be received 10am-2pm Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 3900 Central Avenue, Shadyside, Ohio where funeral services will be at 2:00pm with Rev. Gary Rankin officiating.
Burial will follow in Powhatan Cemetery, Powhatan Point, Ohio. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association @ TMCFunding.com. Condolences may be expressed to the family at www.bauknechtaltmeyer.com.
