Edwin R. Upperman, 85 of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, March 14, 2016 at the East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry, Ohio.

He was born May 7, 1930 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late Gordon and Florence (Ross) Upperman.

Edwin was a retired tool and die maker for the former Clevite Corporation and a Methodist by faith. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.

He was a skilled metal worker, enjoyed making knives and jewelry and a talented wood craver. He will be truly missed by his loving wife and family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William Upperman.

Surviving are his wife, Lucille (Mlynek) Upperman, whom he married on July 28, 1956 in Bellaire, Ohio, three children, Randy Upperman, Lori (Dante) Battistelli and Diana (Gary) Landers all of Bellaire, Ohio, two sisters, Betty DePaulis of Bellaire, Ohio and Lillian Parker of Benwood, West Virginia. Also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Edwin requested that there be no visitation or services. Final arrangements will be held at the convenience of the family.

Dear Lucille, I meant to write you sooner. So sorry to hear about Eddie! I can not believe so many years have passed since we last saw each other. I send my love and pray that the Lord will give you peace.

As a kid Diana and i hung out with each other. I remember playing on franklin street and mr Upperman would be outside doing different things in the yard,garage ect.He was always a nice man and made time for us kids to make us homemade snow cones.Block of ice and a shaver.That was the BEST.

I’ve known Eddie almost all my life. He was like a second dad. Taught me how to drive a car and was always willing to lend anyone a hand if you needed help. A kind soul with a good heart. He will be missed! Our sincere condolences to the family…Jan & Rick Smith
