John E. Schoeppner 83 of Bellaire, Ohio died Monday, January 1, 2018 in the Wheeling Hospital.
He was born April 29, 1934 in Warwood, West Virginia a son of the late John W. and Catherine Wolf Schoeppner.
John was a retired coal miner with the North American Coal Corporation’s Number 6 Mine and Saginaw Mining Company and a US Naval Reserves veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, John Michael Schoeppner and one sister, Mary Margaret Archer.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” Pugh Schoeppner, whom he married on July 17, 1954 at the First Christian Church in Bellaire; four daughters, Liz Harwell of San Antonio, Texas, Becky (John) McCort of Lafferty, Ohio, Deb Hastings of O’Fallon, Illinois and Shellie (Bill) Higgins of Shadyside, Ohio; one sister, Barbara Slovik of Bellaire, Ohio. Also seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Saturday at 1pm with Pastor Larry Helms officiating. Interment in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio.
