Joseph Pavelek 91, of Bellaire, Ohio died Thursday January 26, 2017 at Liza’s Place in Wheeling, WV. He was born November 13, 1925 a son of the late Joseph and Mary (Zilka) Pavelek in Bellaire, Ohio. Joseph served in the Army Air Corp during WWII as a bombardier with the 100th air group. He worked as a brakeman for over forty years on the Pennsylvania Railroad. Joseph was a member of St. Michael’s Church until it closed and then attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 52, the Sokol Lodge # 39 as well as the St. Frances Society and Holy Name Society. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Loretta (Gray) Pavelek who he married on September 22, 1951. He is survived by his children, Susan (Jeff) Gibson of Bellaire, Ohio, Mark (Gigi) Pavelek of Reno, NV and Mike Pavelek of Virginia City, NV. In addition he is survived by two grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jason) Kuhn and Joseph Pavelek as well as one great granddaughter Makenzie Kuhn and his beloved Yellow Lab Emma. Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441, 37th street Bellaire, Ohio 43906 on Sunday January 29, 2017 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm with a 7:45 vigil service. Funeral Mass with liturgy will be held on Monday January 30th, 2017 at 11 am at St. John Catholic Church in Bellaire, Ohio with Fr. Daniel Heusel officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery of Bellaire where the Belmont County Veterans Association will confer full military honors.
