Joseph Frederick Campbell

October 6, 1935 - October 19, 2021

Joseph F. Campbell Sr. 86, of Bellaire, passed away surrounded by his family at WVU Wheeling Hospital
on October 19, 2021.
He was born on October 6, 1935, in Shadyside, Ohio, a son of the late Joseph and Dora (Freeman) Campbell.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Robert Campbell.
Joe is survived by his wife of 66 years, Cecelia, and four children Billie Jo (Randy) Baldwin, Linda (Randy)
Smith, Joseph (Mandy) Campbell, and Kerri Campbell-Kanyuch; a sister, Betty Norden; a sister-in-law, Jan Campbell; 14 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great granddaughter.
Joe is retired from South Central Power Company and is a former Mayor of Bellaire. After retirement, he
worked part-time at the Neffs’ Fire Department and also at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home, as he
just loved to be around and help people. He also served on the board of the EORWA.
He was a member of Ionic Lodge 438 F & AM, and a member of the South Bellaire United Methodist
Church. He also was involved in several community organizations and committees. Joe did not know a
stranger and was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. He was very proud of his All American
Town, where you could often find him hanging flags, putting up the Christmas lights, fixing the city
traffic lights, playing Santa for events and the parade, and even taking hot chocolate to the city workers
on Christmas morning while they worked on a water break.
Joe was one of a kind. He was a loving father, husband, Poppy, son, brother, and friend to all. His family
will miss him beyond words but will keep his memory alive until the day they are reunited in Heaven.
Friends will be received at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home in Bellaire, OH on Friday, October 22 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. with Masonic Services being held at 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday, October 23 at the South Bellaire United Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. with Pastor Jim Lish officiating. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery, Bellaire, Ohio.
