Joseph S. Moravick 93, of Barton Road, St. Clairsville, OH, died Tuesday, May 17, 2016.

He was born March 16, 1923 at Idamay, WV , a son of the late Matthew and Anna Madlak Moravick.

Joseph is retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel, Martins Ferry.

He is a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, St. Clairsville and a WWII Marine veteran serving in the Pacific Theater where he trained land mine sniffing dogs.

He was preceded in death by a brother Victor Moravick and a sister Mary Feachen.

Surviving is his wife of 62 years Katherine Griffiths Moravick, and his daughters , Betty Jo Moravick, Pittsburgh, PA, Mary Ann Moravick, Van Wert, OH, and Doris (Alan) Johnson, Friendswood, TX, and two grandchildren, Amanda Kay and Matthew Johnson.

Friends will be received 4-8 PM Thursday at the Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory. St. Clairsville. where a vigil service will be held at 4 PM. Joseph’s Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Fr. Thomas Chillog the celebrant.

Burial with Military Rites by the Belmont County Veterans Assoc. will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
