Karen Sue Gehrig passed away on Friday, November 26, 2021 under the loving care of Hospice of Central Ohio.  She was 74 years young. Born December 23, 1946 in Powhatan Point, Ohio to the late Samuel and Frances Boltz Zugaro. 

Along with her parents, she joins her husband Robert L. Gehrig, who died on March 2, 2006; sister-in-law Sammie Zugaro; and nephew Tim Zugaro. 

She leaves to cherish her memory; daughter, Beth (Chris) Ison; son, Jim (Amy) Gehrig; her grandchildren: Jacob, Jackson, Alexandra and Samantha; brother Sam Zugaro; nephew John (Cindy) Zugaro; nieces Shaye (Mike) Schuetz and Michelle Zugaro; along with their families; brother-in-law William “Cork” (Sue) Gehrig; along with family and friends. 

Karen was a devoted mom and grandma, who made her family, her world. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  A Methodist by faith, Karen found comfort, and strength, in our Lord.  

Her family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 4-7pm, at SCHOEDINGER NORTH, 5554 Karl Road in Columbus, where a Service of Remembrance will follow at 7pm.  Family and friends will be invited to share a memory, or special story, you have of Karen. Guests are respectfully asked to wear a mask. 

There will be additional services on Thursday, December 2, 2021, where her family will receive friends from 3-7pm at Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Home 186 Main St, Powhatan Point, OH 43942, where her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 11am. Graveside Service and Interment, Powhatan Cemetery.  

All are welcome to join the family following services, for food and fellowship at the Masonic Hall, 155 Main Street, Powhatan Point, Ohio 43942. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Hospice of Central Ohio, 2269 Cherry Valley Rd SE, Newark, OH 43055. (https://www.hospiceofcentralohio.org/). Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. 

Karen’s family would like to especially thank Hospice of Central Ohio for their love and support, while providing the necessary comfort for her and her family. They would also like to acknowledge Jefferson Township Fire, and thank them for providing the dignity Karen so deserved.  A heartfelt thank you!
