Melvin Carl Steele 77, and his wife Mary Lou Ferrick Steele, 76, of Bellaire, OH, died Saturday September 30, 2017 at home.

Melvin was born May 24, 1940 in Bellaire, Ohio a son of the late William M. and Anna R. Regonis Steele.

He was retired from HLC Trucking, Shadyside, OH, a member of American Legion Post #77 Neffs, OH, VFW Post # 626 of Bellaire, OH and was An Army Veteran.

Mary Lou was born January 14, 1941 in Bellaire, Ohio a daughter of the late Benjamin and Louise Goldie Larinore Ferrick.

Mary Lou was retired from the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction, Noble Correctional Institution and was a member of Rock Hill Presbyterian Church Bellaire, Ohio.

Melvin and Mary Lou were preceded in death by their son, William Michael “Billy” Steele. Melvin’s brother, Kenneth Steele and sister, Lula Soderlund, and Mary Lou’s Sister, Judy Ferrick.

They are survived by three sons, Jeffrey (Pam) Steele of Shadyside, OH, Gregory (Kristen) Steele of Bellaire, OH and James “J.J. (Angela) Steele of New Martinsville WV. 4 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Melvin’s brother, George (Mary Ann) Steele of Jacksonville, FL and sisters, Shirley Esposito, Nancy (Pat) Tedeschi, and Sarah (Chuck) Horn all of Bellaire, OH, as well as Mary Lou’s sister Pat Ferrick of Bellaire, OH.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 2-8 pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and Crematory, 441 37th Street, Bellaire, Ohio where funeral services will be held at 11am Wednesday with Reverend David Demarest officiating.

Burial follows in Belmont County Memorial Park Cemetery, St Clairsville, OH.

Military graveside honors for Melvin will be conducted by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
