Mildred Kostecka passed away December 22, 2020 at the age of 97. She was born on July 10, 1923 to Rude (Rudy) and Boja (Bertha Munjas) Vucelich, grew up in Dillies Bottom and spent her adult life in Powhatan Point, Ohio.
Mildred served proudly in the Women’s Army Corp during WWII stationed at Fort Sheridan, IL. After the war, she married Louis Kostecka and they enjoyed many happy years together.
“Miltz”, as her friends called her, was loved by all who knew her, especially her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers George and Pete, sisters Smelia, Mary and Margaret.
She is survived by her sister Sophia Tusina, sister-in-law Dolores Vucelich, daughter Bonnie Huelsman, son Rich (Margo) Kostecka, Mema to her grandchildren, Jesse (Allie) Kostecka, Dylan (Toymari) Kostecka, Abby (Erik) Ellis and step-granddaughter Brook (Dave) Snow. Recently she was honored with great grandchildren, Laurel, Rosalie and Lorraine. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In her later years, Miltz enjoyed playing cards, Scrabble and Words with Friends on her tablet. Most of all Miltz was known for her cookie baking, making 92 dozen one Christmas for friends and family.
Miltz was blessed with a long life, and although she will be missed, her memory lives on. A private graveside service will be held on January 9, 2021 for immediate family. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 10, 2021 for friends.
