Paul B. Strope, 90 of Shadyside, Ohio died Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at the Scenic Point Nursing Home in Millersburg, Ohio.

He was born September 30, 1927 in Cameron, West Virginia a son of the late George M. and Mary M. Haws Strope.

Paul was a self-employed painter, a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, a member of the VFW Post 626, DAV Post 117 and American Legion Post 52. He was a member of Ionic Lodge 438 F & AM where he served as secretary for many years and served on the Mt. Zion Cemetery board. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice Mae Schellenberg Strope, one daughter, Paula M. Strope, a grandson, Eric Strope, a brother, George Strope and a sister, Thelma Warden.

Surviving are his son, John (Donna) Strope of Bellaire, Ohio, daughter, Joan (William) Cannon of Senecaville, Ohio and a brother, Ralph ( Carol) Strope of Salina, Ohio. Also four grandsons, Chad and Ryan Strope, Scott and Douglas Jones and one granddaughter, Michelle Anderson and eight great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 441 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm where services will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm with Reverend James Hoff officiating.

Interment in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Bellaire, Ohio with Full Military Honors conferred by the Belmont County Veterans Association.

Joan and family…I am so sorry to learn of the loss of your father, it’s so difficult to let them go, even if we know they are no longer suffering. I think it is very hard to let go of the first man you have ever loved. Many thoughts and prayers go out to you…my deepest sympathy. (I am Janice’s sister, even though we do not know each other, I feel like I know you from Janice speaking of how wonderful a friend you are to her)
