Richard Palmer Sr. 72, of Bridgeport, Ohio died Saturday April 13 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born September 20, 1946 a son of the late Lawrence and Bernice (Burge) Palmer in Bellaire, Ohio. Richard worked for North American Coal and Wheeling Brake. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Methodist by faith. He enjoyed Nascar, watching westerns and loved his children and grandchildren and his prized possession was Mariah his cat. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Rodney. He is survived by his loving wife Ladonna (Stephens) Palmer who he married on December 15, 1968, his children, Richard (Chris) Palmer Jr., Lori (James) Janiszewski, Leslie (Michael) Zunn and Brenda Palmer as well as his siblings, Diane Kolenich, Lawrence Palmer Jr., Shirley Underwood and Robert Palmer, 9 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Family and friends will be received at the Bauknecht Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory, 441, 37th Street Bellaire, Ohio 43906 on Wednesday April 17, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. Funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1 pm with Rev. James Hoff officiating. Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio where full military honors will be conferred by the Belmont County Veterans Association.
