Like Gary, I also worked with Vaughn for a short time out at DTRA up until April of this year. He was passionate about his work especially reconciling the Fund Balance with Treasury. A true expert in his field, he loved what he did and he brought great insight to the challenges he faced. He also was an excellent baker. Hence his continual reference to a layer cake when reconciling Fund Balance with Treasury. I had the pleasure of eating some of his baking products as he cherished the opportunity to use some of his mother's family recipes. In many ways Vaughn brought a sweetness to our lives. It was a shock to hear that he is gone. Praying that he is with Jesus and that those Vaughn has left behind are being comforted by Holy Spirit.
