Virginia Florence, 89 of Shadyside, Ohio died Friday February 19, 2016 at Shadyside Care Center.
A daughter of the late William and Dreama Mae (Russell) Clendenin she was born September 25, 1926 in Leewood, WV.
Virginia graduated from Shadyside High School and went on to obtain her beauticians license.
She worked as a waitress at Rigas’s Restaurant for many years.
She was married to the love of her life William Florence SR on April 6, 1947 and enjoyed nearly 69 years with him.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a son William “Buster” Florence JR, a daughter Jackie Florence, a sister Dorothy Haught and two brothers Donald and William Clendenin.
She is survived by her husband; her children Dreama (Ronald) Smith of Tallmadge, OH, Donna (Rick) Sims of Shadyside, OH and Darlene (James) Mackey of Stow, OH. She is also survived by a sister Midge Parker of Shadyside, OH along with 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received on Tuesday February 23, 2016 from 4 until 8 pm at the Bauknecht-Altmeyer Funeral Homes & Crematory 3900 Central Ave Shadyside, OH 43947.
Funeral services will be held on February 24, 2016 at 11 am with Rev. David Roberts officiating.
Burial will follow at Holly Memorial Gardens, Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Buster Florence Scholarship Fund or to the Belmont County Animal Shelter.
