I am so so sorry to hear that Ike has passed. My dad loved him like a brother and I like to imagine them sharing a beer together now. I have wonderful memories of the picnics out in west Bellaire. I can still see him smiling. I hope you are all at peace and let your happy memories bring you comfort.

Our condolences to Dosie, Smoke, Gio, and all the family. Ike was an outstanding Italian American and a great Barisianotti—the kind that makes us all proud. Whenever I had a question about Italy or Bellaire I would ask Ike and I was confident I would get the right answer. I wasn’t the only one. I remember several years ago a few people were standing on the Sons of Italy patio looking out toward Belmont Street and debating where a certain business had once stood. Sonny Herzburg, Ike’s old friend, said matter of factly, “ Nello will be here soon. He’ll know. Nello was quick witted and interested in so many subjects. I always enjoyed talking to him. He taught me the following aphorism: Tieni i tuoi piedi a terra e la testa in aria (loosely translated as keep your feet on the ground and your head In the air). Thanks Ike!
