Condolences for Harold Allan “Buzz” Donahue

My deepest sympathy to the Donahue family. Buzz was the epitome of what a coach should be - knowledgeable, caring, nurturing, and fair. I truly valued playing for him as he helped me grow far beyond being an athlete. I have coached youth sports for many years and I have tried to mold my philosophy after what Buzz instilled in me. Rest in Peace Coach

With deepest sympathy to the family. Buzz was a class man and a true friend to all. He was a blessing to not only Bellaire but anyone who meet him no matter where you were from. I'm grateful I could call him my friend. He will be greatly missed by all. RIP

To the family of Buzzie Donahue, Many a great person called Bellaire home. Many of us from St. John's called Bellaire home. Buzzie was Bellaire--he was St. John's--he was gifted beyond education. He was one of the Donahue's and one of the best. He was tough---he was fair----he was funny. I might have been a little Bellaire boy but Buzzie always had time for us. Heaven just received another great Bellaire boy----------Buzz Donahue. Rest-In-Peace ...and Thank You !

You can't think of St. Johns without thinking of Buzzy. We have grown up listening to coaching stories and then were able to know Buzzy ourselves as players. The love and dedication he had for the sports' program set such an example. He will be missed! Chris and Kelli (Magistro) Saksa

I am just one of many who had the fortune of playing for and learning life lessons from Coach Buzz in grade school. At that time, I remember us saying that we had the “best coach” and later in life I realized how valuable his life lessons are. I also crossed paths with so many others who said that Buzz was and is “the best.” May Buzzy be rewarded in Heaven for having such a positive impact on so many of us!

Buzz Donahue was my Hamilton Street neighbor and my grade school football coach growing up. He made me captain of the defense, although others thought I was too small. Coach Donahue thought I was the right size and used to say I was a tough player. He drove us to many games and we always had a great time with him. An excellent coach and a great man, he was a true icon of St Johns. May he Rest In Peace.

I always thought that Buzz was my "block captain" on Hamilton street he sure seemed so. News of his passing has left another hole in my heart's memory. I am certain that all of you, his family, can never be totally consoled, but know this..heaven has another star directing his team angels on where to stand, when to shoot, or what play to run. Growing up 2 doors from him in the 50's, I always had a deep and abiding respect and a feeling above friendship for all of his family. I will always credit Buzzy for instilling in me a competitiveness, will to win, and a realistic view of my role on his or any team. For all of the above...thank you, dear Harold. You, his family, know exactly what I'm talking about. He will be sorely missed. Mike Velt
