I attended BNHSclass of 77, Mr Merryman and Mr Noble were the industrial arts teachers. Mr Merryman had a 1966 Bronco that was clean as they come, but on a hunting trip it had caught fire. I remember him telling us he was in a freshly plowed field and he lifted the hood and put a giant clump of plowed furrow on the carb to douse the fire! We had a ball cleaning all the dirt out of the carb. What a guy! One of the best teachers and people I had the pleasure of meeting, while at BNHS. One of a kind, loved by all. Sorry for your loss.

What do you say about someone who knew you better than you know yourself..that was Chaz .All through my years at Buckeye North he watched over me and we became friends there after, he "got me" understood all that I went through and was going through. The day my Mom passed in 1990, He was the first person I called and cried to and his words , some how helped me get through it, just as he did with other things in my life . He and I kept in touch up into a year or so ago. He was a constant in my life, So you see he wasnt just a Great teacher..He was one of a kind.. that cant be replaced .My deepest heart felt Sympathy and prayers to all his family, Gonna miss you so much Chuck...Rest in sweet peace. So many happy memories of Mr. Merryman, my drafting and metal shop teacher at BLHS from 1994-97. Everyone loved him and would spend their study hall periods in his classrooms because he was such a kind and funny teacher with the wisdom to know that learning must also be fun. He was a great tradesman and the reason I'm a DIYer. My condolences to the family.

I was only one of many hundreds of students that Chuck had throughout his teaching career. He was my shop teacher at BNHS from 82-86. He always had a way to get the best out of every student he had. I think he actually knew which ones he would have to spend extra time with probably due to their own family issues. It didn't matter if you were a star football player or just another smart assed kid. He treated us all the same. He taught me so many things that I would've never learned at home and I put those learnings to use even to this day. I wish we could've kept close after I graduated but it was his job to teach us how to navigate life after school not to lead us through it by the hand. He did a fine job with me for sure. Prayers for his family RIP Mr. Merryman

I always enjoyed shop class. I learned skills that served me all my life. Most of all he helped me greatly when my father died in my senior year. He spent extra time with me in shop and took me deer hunting with him. I'm a better man having known him. My sincere condolences to his family.

Dear Matt & Amy, so sorry for your loss. I had your Dad for 5 years at Brilliant High School & he was the best thing for guys like me that could’nt cut college so he taught us woodworking, metal shop & he was the first to teach me welding & a little bit of that Merryman wisdom, LOL Two years in a row I missed getting my picture in our yearbook because I was working on one of his projects & I learned more from that than from getting my picture taken. My senior year he & I grew 80 vegetable plants & when school was out he told me take 40 home & plant them in my Mom’s garden. I was so happy to finally catch up with him at his home & we went over to the Tiger Pub for lunch. Wether he knew it or not he had a great influence on me ! God Bless

He was my high school shop teacher at Buckeye North, but more than that he was a great friend throughout the years. I will always remember when he would come to Virginia and be my fishing partner in some local bass tournaments and all the long phone calls we had. I will cherish all the memories through the years and the impact he made in my life. He will be missed

So much sympathy to all of you. I know what a fixture your dad/pap was in your lives. I knew the antics of the five boys through talking with Chuck. I’m thankful as we grew older when I was back down in the area I drove through the alley to see if the garage door was open and if he was about. I was impressed with his herb growing on the deck. He was always so good to his aunt, my mom. He caught fish for her and even cooked them first. He spent many hours with us by her bedside. I appreciated him much. He will indeed be missed. Love to all. Betsy
