I continue to turn over your last words to me, a year later, you're gone amongst the heavens. You'll forever be littleman's "My Barri." I thank you for those words to live by, I forever cherish them. We miss you always.

I didn't know Barri, or Nicole, or the family, but I've kept you all in my prayers since reading about Barri's tragic death in Charleston several months ago. I'm so sorry for your loss. No understanding the horrible, senseless act. Please accept my condolences.

They say that time heals. It will be eons before time heals this loss. Barri was a beloved husband, son, brother, nephew, friend, colleague, and all around excellent human. Barri was kind, caring, patient, funny, understanding, great listener, handsome, sincere, genuine, witty, gigantic bright smile that lit up the room, compassionate, sharp-dressed, shirt off your back type of man.... To name just a FEW of his qualities. Not a single day will go by that I do not think of Barri. He was taken from us too soon. Nicole and the Shank family: You know that you have an extended family and friends that loved Barri and will be here to grieve and mourn with you. But as Barri would want us- we must also celebrate his life and all of the joy and love that be brought us. I love you buddy. "Goodnight sweet prince"

Our love extends miles to his family, Nicole, extended family and friends. We are intensely saddened with the loss of sweet Barri. It helps us to get through believing that we are with him every day to eternity, in spirit. We remember his smile, the one that makes you second guess your sadness. We remember his kindness, the one that makes you second guess why you thought negatively. We remember his patience, the one that makes you second guess your uptight nature. We remember his polished presence, the one that makes you want to be more. God gives to those who can handle it and has given to all of us who would need to handle the pain. It brings me the breath of comfort knowing that Barri shines true within all of those who knew him. While I may not have the power to get through this great loss this very minute, his spirit will get me through my remaining life to eternity, when we meet again, my dear friend.

Please accept my deepest condolences. I had the pleasure of getting to know Barri through our work interactions and I can honestly say that he is one of the nicest and most genuine individuals that I have ever met. He will be sorely missed.

I am glad to call Barri one of my best friends. He always handled himself with so much class and warm heartedness. Over the years he never hesitated to take time out of his day to say hello or listen to my problems. I'll never forget him. I wish the family he left behind nothing but the best and I hope in time you will be able to carry out regular lives. I know it will be hard for me, but that's what Barri would have wanted. Again, my condolences, and the world is definitely worse off with Barri not in it.

Barri was someone I looked up to when I was a kid and best of friends with Ben. He always made me laugh. I truly developed my sense of humor from many days spent with the Shank brothers growing up. I remember countless hours of playing hockey in the church parking lot across as well as Barri always allowing Ben and I to hang out in his room and listen to his music. My thoughts are with you all and I hope you can find comfort in the many memories you have of Barri.

To Ben and the entire Shank family We met Barri and Ben at Sturbridge. We were originally from Pittsburgh and instantly hit if off with these two amazing young men. Barri always had a smile on his face and was so much fun to be around. He had a positive outlook on life always. We enjoyed hanging out with Barri in "the garage" talking about the Steelers, Pens and Pirates. Ben, we know you lost your best friend and our hearts are breaking for you. It was always so nice to see two brothers get along so well. We will continue to keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. May God give you strength through this very difficult time.

To Nicole and Barri's family: I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers go out to you. I worked with Barri for a number of years at National City/PNC and had the pleasure of sitting next to him for a number of months. We got to know each other well. He was the type of guy that you connected to the moment you met him... Always happy, outgoing and thinking of others. He was an amazing man filled with integrity and feel humbled to have known him.

I was lucky enough to get to know Barri while at Pitt when he lived in the apartments above CJ Barney's. It was a few years ago when we last saw each other, and I can't remember what we talked about, but I do remember he was smiling and we were having a few good laughs catching up. He didn't have a bad bone in him and I'm at a loss of what to say. His wife, family and friends are all in my thoughts and prayers...

The friends we make in our formative years stay with us forever, no matter where they are. I met Barri as a freshman in college. He quickly became a friend, and later a housemate. He's a part of (and often the cause of) many fond memories. It is with my deepest sympathy this loss occurred, far too soon, and far too unfair. My heart goes out to the rest of the Shank family, Barri's wife, and everyone else he touched. I know they are many.

I only met Barri a few times, as he was a close friend of my brother-in-law Brad and my sister Katie, but he always struck me as a kind and genuine soul. My sister referred to him as one of the best people one would ever know. May Barri's friends, family, colleagues and others close to him find comfort during this devastating time.

My nephew Barri was the most beautiful baby boy with all that dark hair and grew into a handsome man. His smile was big, bright, and beautiful and he made you smile as soon as he walked up to greet you. He was so kind and loving. Our hearts are heavy as we grieve the loss of our nephew. Our love and prayers go out to my brother Ed, sister-in-law Cindy, Nephew & Niece, Ben & Meghan, and his beautiful wife and forever our niece, Nicole Ross Shank and Barri's Grandma Jo Jagucki as well as our entire family. May God give you comfort in the days to come as you realize that Barri is with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. We love you all. Mike & Denise (Shank) Paxton (Uncle & Aunt)
